*REPRESENT: If you’re not competing, you can still participate by coming to cheer on your fellow Silverton SD students. Spectator tickets are only $5 each – get yours today!

*HELPERS WANTED THIS FRIDAY: The school will be closing early at 5:00 pm this Friday, Oct. 24th so that our staff can set up for the tournament. Pad-Holding Class for Parents Friday Sept. 26

Become a Silverton Self Defense V.I.P. (Very-Involved Parent/Grandparent/Stand-In)!

Even if you don’t train in the martials arts, you can be an active part of their experience. We’ll walk you through the basics of pad-holding so that you can work with your student building skills in kicking, punching and blocking between classes and lessons. Please join us Friday, September 26th at 6:30 pm at the school to learn how to pad-hold like a pro!



Bo Staff Summer Dates

Bo Staff classes are continuing over the summer on an every-other-week schedule, so grab your sticks and come on in! The dates will be as follows:

(Saturdays 11am-Noon)

August 9th, 23rd

Picture Day Next Week!

Comb your hair and press that uniform, folks – Picture Day is coming to the dojo on Thursday May 15th! This no-obligation event is a great way to capture martial arts memories for years to come, whether it’s for yourself or the student in your life. We have openings throughout the 3:05 to 7:55 PM time frame – give us a call to set up an appointment, and arrange for a proof envelope!

Join Our Practice Club!

Help your student EXCEL in their martial arts studies by joining our Practice Club! It’s easy to get started:

  • Stop by the office to pick up a Practice Club folder including weekly homework log, monthly progress tracker, and an awesome SSD binder cover of your choice.
  • Once a week, our instructors will fill out the practice log with individualized karate homework, exercises and techniques.
  • Arrange with your student times during the week in which they can do their practice, and sign off on the log when it’s completed.
  • Bring the log back every week for new workouts, progress stickers, and feedback.
  • Once a full course of logs is completed, your student will earn a FREE members-only uniform that will have them jumping for joy!

Bo Staff Classes

Even though the tournament has been postponed, our Bo Staff classes will continue! Join us Saturday mornings at 11:30 for a half hour of staff techniques including striking, blocking, formwork and tricks. FREE for existing students.
